it looks like it just has cylinders of wood glued to a string

  2. stephen wallin says:

All are machines to raise water, be they powered by flowing water, horse, human, wind or tide, they are renewable long lasting sources of energy to raise the water, they are nothing to do with perpetual motion etc. Energy can be “free”, from cost, if from wind or water flow etc.
    Nice models by the way!
    Stephen.

2:31 whats THAT one supposed to do?

  4. Jason Alexander says:

0:33 how do you move the water wheel?

-_- I believe that is what I said… but again that’s not my point… the point is it’s a cool machine… but I just don’t get why this video is called “Renewable Energy Sources.”

  8. veproject1 says:

All water raising machines powered by the river’ stream, wind flow or animals

  9. philip Beckwith says:

I’m not sure what you are trying to say here. If you are saying the water that is raised to the top is the energy source, that’s wrong.there is a motor driving the water wheel at the bottom. Not only that but that kind of perpetual motion is impossible. the idea is to stick the water wheel in a river and this lifts the water to the top. but why not just put a water turbine generator in the river? then use a water pump to pump it to the top? you would get much better results. And that’s my point.

  10. Dudedudd says:

but it is renewable energy. the energy used is the water that is being moved.
As long as there is water to move the wheel it works.

  11. Ṝudrặ Ȱm says:

if it would not have been an electric motor we had to use this to raise water…

    great models

I love watching clockwork machines run and seeing how they work… If this video wasn’t sold under the name of “renewable energy,” I would of given this video a thumbs up. I was expecting to see something new and creative. today there are much better ways to take energy from streams than this.

  17. kztar621 says:

This is a model, of course there has to be some sort of “cheat” to get it to move.
But the actual machine works because it is meant to be placed withing a flowing source of water such as a river.
It’s not perpetual motion because it is not supposed to power itself, it is harnessing the energy generated by the hypothetical water flow.
This video is not about perpetual motion, is about harnessing renewable energy sources with machines such as waterwheels and windmills.

  18. kztar621 says:

    Smart yet completely deluded.
Of course it’s a matter of semantics.
The definition of a renewable source of energy is that of a source that doesn’t run out though it’s use as such.
Water, wind, even sunlight may eventually run out due to natural phenomena, but they won’t run out as a result of us using them to power machines.

Damn. That donkey is a champ.

  20. Margaret Evers says:

Hi! Thanks a lot for this helpful video. By the way, I hear a lot of people keep on talking about Xobotano Home Energy (do a google search), but I’m not sure if it’s good. Have you thought about this alternative home energy known as Xobotano Home Energy? I have heard many amazing things about it.

  21. GummyBoar says:

    It’s all about time scale.

  22. GummyBoar says:

Sunlight is considered a renewable resource, but it will run out eventually, yes? We consider it renewable because by the time it does run out we won’t be around to use it. Allthough what you are saying is technically correct, it isn’t really relevant.

  23. Christian Moore says:

Teeeeechnically speaking, If the 2nd law of thermodynamics proves absolute, then everything and nothing is renewable, in the sense that: Everything can be re-used to a point, however nothing can be converted to energy and then back 100% to it’s physical form. Everything renewable will eventually run out anyways. I suppose that means this is all a game of semantics. What exactly is the definition of renewable? Is it re-usable? Recyclable? Either way, to a point everything can be recycled. Agreed?

  24. Christian Moore says:

woah woah woah, If water get’s to be renewable, I refuse to keep trees out of there, and you can make oil in a lab using elements from other chemicals.

  25. klajcollege says:

The device is meant to power itself, which again is not possible. Its the second law of thermodynamics that states that the output energy cannot be equal to or greater than the input energy.

  26. Tri Mai says:

    …cause maybe it is?

  27. Callun Bertolini says:

Do u mean that solar isn’t renewable?
u said it NEVER runs out
the sun will in 3 billion or so years

  34. Bob Carlin says:

This is great, but we must first face the truth and realize developing clean energies is a questions of life and death. Then we will be able to make a big enough move and start changing this world into heaven.
